Teen Center Coordinator Position Description Overview

Overview: Youth At The Center (YATC) advances opportunities for young people in grades 7-12 to be seen, heard, and valued as the next generation of leaders. YATC programming is focused on the leadership development and identify development of young people. Our Teen Center provides a space for fostering community, mentoring, tutoring, and support. We are seeking young adults, primarily ages 18-22, to apply for paid Teen Center Coordinator roles.

Teen Center Staff Overview

Ages: Primarily seeking applications from young adults age 18-22 years old. We will also consider applications from those age 17 for a Coordinator in Training role.
Numbers: We are looking to hire 8 individuals.
Duration: This role will is scheduled
to begin in October 2025 and last until May 2025.
Hours/month:
Teen Center will be open weekly from 3pm – 7pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays along with 1-2 social events each month.
Coordinators can earn up to 10 hours/week.
Rate: $15/hr

Position Details/Typical Work Activities

Specific work activities and responsibilities can vary depending on the programming identified by teen participants. Typical duties and projects for Coordinators include:

·       Consistently engage and demonstrate positive interactions with participants

·       Collaborate with other Coordinators to facilitate and support Teen Center programming including tutoring, surveys, focus groups, discussions, activities

·       Communicate with Youth At The Center staff

·       Oversee check-in and check-out procedures for Teen Center

·       Responsible for setting up snacks/light food preparation

·       Will assist in janitorial duties as necessary to ensure cleanliness of the space

·       Ensure safety of participants and maintenance of equipment and materials

·       Promote the Center by developing marketing materials and social media content

·       Identify community partner that can provide enrichment/exposure opportunities for participants

·       Organize monthly social events (potential ideas movie night, open mic, karaoke, etc. or field trips)

·       Inventory and stock the supply closet to help support teens with hygiene packs, school supplies, and resources

While each Teen Coordinator will bring their own background, beliefs, and experiences to share, below are key qualities applicants should possess.

·       Schedule that allows for regular availability during Teen Center hours

·       Proficiency in one or more skills – tutoring, social media content creation, graphic design, curriculum development, survey development, program facilitation, community engagement

·       Willingness to engage in courageous conversations on topics that are important to youth and young adults

·       Desire to work collaboratively with other Coordinators

·       Commitment to support the development of young people and fostering 21st Century Learning Skills (see below)

Teen Center Coordinators will be provided coaching and check-ins with Youth At The Center staff to support their personal and professional growth.

The Teen Center is located at 500 Reading Rd. downtown. There is free parking available and located on Metro route.
